We are Martiya.
Before a guest arrives, the work has already begun.
Ingredients have been prepared. The room has been set. Someone has considered where you will sit, what you may need, and how the evening might unfold.
Martiya begins there—with the act of making a place for someone.
Our cooking draws from Somalia and East Africa and from the people who continue these traditions in Minneapolis. It is shaped by memory, movement, season, and the particular point of view of our kitchen.
The food does not stand apart from the welcome. The same attention given to balance, temperature, texture, and preparation is given to the pace of service and the comfort of the guest.
That is the table we are building: one where care can be tasted, generosity has form, and no one has to understand a dining code before feeling at home.
